About Shelina Virani

Shelina Virani began her career in Banking and Risk Management 17 years ago and due to her ever ending desire to understand how data could be refined and results could be consistent, it led her to the path of discovering how she could further enhance her knowlege.

This discovery led her to find out how risk when not mitigated caused tremendous issues and there was not only one aspect of risk that affected a business, transaction or project but it could be at multiple levels and if not all understood in its entirety then it could cause a domino affect.

It made her seek our what technology could offer and do to protect companies and business alike in managing risk and fraud and better improve their processes.  The kindness of many technology firms in allowing her to study their technolgy made her realize that all technologies no matter how great are not beneficial to all companies but have to be customized based on the Institutions' or Clients needs and most importantly that not all technological firms had the knowlege base to create a complete system or process.   

The failure in due diligence to provide consistent data and decisioning made her research and study analytics and what methodologies when implemented within technology while understanding the company or business processes could provide results consistently to management at every juncture of their company operations or transactions.

 The gaps which existed in fraud detection made her seek out what preventive measures can be applied that could protect an Institution or business to deter it in its infancy versus curing it when the problem already existed.

The lack of planning in systems and processes and the amount of money she saw spent in companies made her study and research what options companies had to plan strategically to better enhance their company and protect themselves against fraud, operational risks, expenditures, technology and resources so the ratios of income to costs were not short term profitable but had long term resilience to survive any economical or market down turns.

It is this search and quest that brought the inception of YRisk Consultancy and Training, to share the knowlege and the experience that has been a privilege and struggle to obtain.
